How Has Modern Technology Moved Dentistry Forward?

In dentistry, new advancements are frequently being made. Dr. Gakavian keeps a close eye on state-of-the-art technology and treatments that could change the way we approach our patient’s care. For example, switching from traditional X-ray to digital X-rays has improved our ability to diagnose hidden oral health problems in a much shorter amount of time. Give us a call to schedule a checkup at our office and take advantage of our technological offerings.

Intraoral Cameras

You can’t really examine your own mouth as closely as a dentist can, but you can still have a chance to see what they see. An intraoral camera is a small device that fits easily into your mouth. It lets us take high-definition pictures of your teeth and gums that we can show you on a monitor next to your dental chair. We use these images to talk about the current state of your teeth and gums; we can point directly to problem areas, leaving nothing to your imagination as we outline the reasons why we’re recommending a given treatment.

Digital X-Rays

What makes digital X-rays different from traditional ones? For one thing, they’re much easier to develop; regular film X-rays have to be developed in a dark room with environmentally damaging chemicals, but a digital X-ray is available for viewing right away and offers much better clarity. Also, the overall process is safer for both you and our team since digital X-rays only emit a fraction of the radiation involved with taking regular X-rays.
