Educating Our Patients About Our Services

We always enjoy having the chance to answer our patients’ questions about oral healthcare. When you feel knowledgeable about your smile’s health, you’re more likely to feel confident when the time comes to make important decisions about your dental care. We invite you to read through these pages to see if we’ve addressed any of your personal dental concerns below. If not, you can call to make an appointment; Dr. Gakavian and the rest of our team would be happy to discuss the matter face to face with you.

How Many Times Should I Go to the Dentist Every Year?

You should have a minimum of two dental visits each year (or once every six months) to prevent common dental problems and protect your oral health.

I’m Having a Dental Emergency! What Should I Do?

Step one should be to call our office and let us know what’s going on. We can arrange for a same-day appointment in the event of a dental emergency so that you can get pain-relieving treatment as soon as possible. You should only contact the emergency room with a dental emergency if it’s causing life-threatening complications, like difficulty breathing or bleeding that doesn’t stop.

Do I Need to Be Screened for Oral Cancer?

Oral cancer tends to be more common in men and people over the age of 40, but almost anyone can develop it. An oral cancer screening is included as part of a regular checkup, and we can refer you to a specialist who can perform a biopsy if we believe there are signs that cancer is present.

How Can I Improve My Smile?

Veneers, cosmetic bonding, and professional teeth whitening can all be used to hide or remove imperfections on your smile. Are you bothered by how your teeth have become discolored, or have you noticed a small chip in your enamel? Set up an appointment with us to discuss the changes you want to make.

What Should I Do If I Have Bleeding Gums?

Bleeding gums are a sign of gum disease, and you need to take quick action if you want to reverse it while it’s still in its early stages. This means improving your oral hygiene routine at home and visiting our office as soon as possible to discuss periodontal therapy.

Do You Take Dental Insurance?

Yes, we participate with various dental PPOs and can file whatever claims are necessary on your behalf. We encourage you to call us if you have any insurance questions.
